Assured Blessing:

Assured Blessing
Matthew 13:44-46  “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.  “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, “who, when he had found one pearl of a great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

I have loved the Lord for as long as I can remember.  I’m really unable to pinpoint exactly when I found or stepped into this place of confident peace…this assuredness.  I have to believe it has been a combination of my developing faith file and my hope in a Savior that I believed would not fail.
The interesting story behind this work of prophetic art is the heart of a wonderfully talented woman named Crystal McMurray.  I’ve known Crystal for many years and until as of late we rarely talked.
One day, for no reason at all Crystal calls me and says “Sheila, have you ever been to Paris, France?”  I said “well yes I have, why?”  She said, “I knew it was you…this doll represents you…your place, your hope your joy in Jesus!”  The conversation rattles on as sisters do cutting each other off and finishing one another sentences.  Finally she shares the excitement and blessing she has had in creating a soft sculpture that looks like me.  Wow!  I thought …look out Beyonce’….Brittney, God’s daughter is taking her place in the spirit!
Crystal went on to tell me the impression, instructions and clarity she had about every little detail.  She even had a different outfit on the original doll but had to change the clothes to the peach detailed Kente cloth.  What Crystal didn’t know was I had recently found out my biological father is West African and that peach is my VERY favorite color.  She was floored.
Even though at times I can be a woman of many words, I’m almost speechless when it comes to Assured Blessing.  She’s just amazing and I believe God used His gifts through Crystal to bless, encourage and affirm my assurance in Him.

If you’d like to see more or purchase some of this amazing work visit and see my acknowledgments on her testimonial page.

I Love That SweaterWhat’s taking so long????  It’s my extended lunch and hope that I can wrap up this doctor’s appointment, get back to work and finish up a few things in the office.  The faces in here looked like I felt.  I circled the room and sized up each one.  All appeared to have the same fatal disease…chronic fatigue coupled with a case of impatience.

A Little Change

It was well past happy hour, you could hear the dance tunes from the street and Hong Kong central was on fire! I don't' know what most fascinated me; the collage of skin hues and accents, the fashion spectrum of Australian outback to Prada or the mused scent of Thai Vietnamese cuisine covered in fresh baked bread. I was taking it all in.

Just Go!I don’t know what it is about me? I’ve often wondered if this happens to other people too or am I just hyper sensitive to these occurrences. Bruce and I are in the Hong Kong airport waiting on our return flight. As we kill some time I wanted to stop by this Origami museum. I asked Bruce and he opted for the ESPN highlights at the nearby lounge. (imagine that?)

A Domestic Whore

Where has this day gone?! The frustration is like a weight. The kids will be home soon. What can we eat? Hmmm….hamburger helper but no meat, tuna no mayo...peanut butter but not enough bread.

Lovely Can

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Lovely. Lovely lived with her parents and her little brother. She had a very special gift and a very special place she often visited.
